Teaching Piano Lesson Partners

No matter what materials you choose for your teaching, there is great value in grouping students as "partners." We will explore and demonstrate some of the many advantages of teaching students together, along with key strategies for doing this effectively.
Topics include:
- Selecting partner groupings,
- Using one piano and more than one piano,
- Maximizing time use,
- Involving both students for the entire lesson.
Materials:
We will demonstrate using materials from the Robert Pace Music for Piano Series, Level I.
Books are available to purchase for $30, or you may bring your own.
CREATIVE MUSICIANSHIP
through the ROBERT PACE MUSIC FOR PIANO SERIES - Level 1
Four Idea-Packed Classes!

($150 for a refresher course for those already certified in Level I)
The Robert Pace MUSIC FOR PIANO SERIES, renowned for its ground-breaking multi-key structure, is ideal for beginners, ages seven and up.
This CREATIVE MUSICIANSHIP COURSE presents techniques for using level 1 Music for Piano and its companion books in teaching:
- Elementary school-aged children and up
- Children who have already had early childhood introductory musical instruction through a program such as Kinder Keyboard. Students who have this “head start” in their background are often ready for the Music for Piano books when they are a bit younger than seven
- Adult Beginners
This course presents and demonstrates strategies for teaching:
- Technique for beginners, from black-key two’s and three’s to all twelve major scales and more,
- Sight-reading through the use of whole body movement, Basic I and V7 harmonies in all twelve major and minor keys,
- Improvising and composing activities that the four books structure in throughout
- Branching out and creating music in a free context,
- Companion solo and ensemble repertoire for Level 1
- Whiteboard games and activities that support the concepts presented in the books
Materials: The four Level 1 companion books of the Robert Pace Music for Piano Series: Music for Piano, Creative Music, Theory Papers, and Finger Builders - Books 1.
Materials may be purchased for $30 if you do not have your own set.
